“You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you” (2 Chronicles 20:6).
Jehoshaphat prayed in agreement with much of what Scripture has revealed concerning the rule of God over the kingdoms: “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all” (1 Chronicles 29:11). This type of praying lines up with the teaching of Jesus that we are to ask God to extend his kingdom rule into the earthly arena: “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).
Lord, teach me to align my prayers with your desires and purposes. May I always be consumed with passion for you and the extension of your kingdom on earth.

Glorify God as measureless, incomparable, infinite, and generous Giver. Give thanks that his resources are bottomless (Col. 1:15-17). Confess those times when you have not asked for what you have needed, or have asked with the wrong motives (Jas. 4:2-3). Commit yourself to relying on God’s resources rather than on your own. Ask God to help you see how rich is the inheritance and how mighty the power that he has given you (Eph. 1:18-19).
Pray that parents may teach their children how to give cheerfully and generously to God, responding with compassion to needs in the lives of others (2 Cor. 9:7).
