Spiritual Communion

Connect Image Dec 2014Prayer is the heart of man in communion with the heart of the Father. It is the heart of the Father bestowing grace and mercy upon the heart of man. And it is the whole heart of man seeking to know the whole heart of God. Prayer is essentially the communion of two hearts.

C. H. Spurgeon said, “True prayer is not a mere mental exercise, nor a vocal performance, but it is far deeper than that—it is spiritual communion with the Creator of heaven and earth. God is a Spirit unseen of mortal eye and only to be perceived by the inner man; our spirit within us, begotten by the Holy Ghost at our regeneration. Prayer is a spiritual business from beginning to end, and its aim and object end not with man, but reach to God Himself.”

Holy God, Your grace and mercy is beyond my comprehension.  I want my whole heart to know Your whole heart, and to come into communion with my loving Creator.  Slow down my busy life so that I can keep my eyes fixed upon You and move as You desire.

Prayer Points

Praise God who has invited you into his circle of fellowship through Jesus Christ. Thank him for his invitation to love him with your whole being (Mk.12:33). Confess to God that sometimes you don’t love and honor him as you should. Commit yourself to Deut. 10:12: “To fear the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, to love him, and to serve [him] with all your heart and with all your soul.” Ask God to enable you fulfill that commitment today.

Pray that the knowledge of Christ will spread throughout the whole world, even as a tiny seed grows into a large and vigorous plant (Mk. 4:31). Pray for faithful preachers of the gospel (Mt. 24:14).

Advent – Day 19

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful” (Colossians 3:15).

Lord, prepare our hearts to be peaceful.  Your peace goes beyond anything we can understand because You do notgive like the world gives.  Thank You for allowing our hearts to be at peace because of the power of the One You sent to us – the Counselor, the Holy Spirit.  May our anxious thoughts be replaced by peaceful ones as we wait for the coming of the Christ Child.
