I must learn to daily abide in Christ, as I follow Him. “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples” (Jn. 15:7, 8). As I abide in Christ, soon I desire more and more His will, rather than my own. Through pondering and praying the Word through passionate prayer, increasingly I live and have my being in His presence for His will to be made known and accomplished. I desire, then, to only ask according to His will. “This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him” (1 Jn. 5:14, 15).
So, as I abide in Christ and ask according to His will, then I believe by faith. “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mk. 11:24). Finally, “Whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive” (Mt. 21:22). This is simply a flow of God’s Word, in my deep, abiding relationship with the Lord, of walking by faith in the power of the Holy Spirit. This power of the Holy Spirit is essentially the work of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God for the will of the Father to be done and for the ways of the Lord to be known, as it is in heaven upon the earth.
Merciful Father, may the work of Your Holy Spirit through Your Word take root in my life so that a passionate fire grows in my heart! May I continually know You more deeply and experience You more intimately than ever before! And, may I have complete confidence and faith in knowing that when I pray according to Your will, that You have heard and will answer.

Praise God as Comforter, Immanuel (“God with us”), Paraclete (“one who stands alongside”). Give thanks for his promise: “I . . . have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand” (Isa. 42:6). Confess those times when you have doubted that God’s hand has been in front of and behind you, guarding your life (Ps. 139:5). Commit the times of your life into God’s hands (Ps. 31:14-15). Ask him to show you how close he is to you.
Ask God to make you his hands of compassion in the life of one unsaved person this week.
