Come as a Devoted Child

Connect Image Dec 2014God the Father wants to hear from us in prayer. I believe He wants us to stretch our hands to Him in humble submission to His authority, rule, reign, and loving kindness. He wants to commune with us as a daddy communes with his devoted child. He wants us to surrender ourselves to His godly judgment and will for our lives. God wants to bless us so that we can be a blessing to others. When we pray, let us pray to “our Father who is in heaven; holy is His name, and may His kingdom come.” When we pray to God the Father may we be transcended beyond the reality and connotations of our earthly father to an intimate, eternal relationship with the perfect true and benevolent, almighty God.

Benevolent, Almighty God, Your child is crying out to You!  I am longing to have faith to surrender my whole self into Your hands without holding anything back.  I’m not sure why I will trust You with some areas of my life and not with others, but I know that You are patiently loving me towards full surrender.  Thank You, Father, for You are True, Right and Perfect.  Holy is Your Name alone!

Prayer Points

Praise God as the one who speaks “in your language.” Give thanks for God’s ongoing communication with you through his Word. Confess the fact that sometimes God speaks, but you disobediently choose not to listen. Commit yourself to the active obedience of young Samuel, who said, “Speak, for your servant is listening” (1 Sam. 3:10). Ask God to give you ears to hear his message.

Pray that those close to you will also have the desire to listen to God and to obey his Word.

Prayer Pointer

“An hour of prayer at the beginning of the [council] meeting actually shortens the overall meeting time by bringing a greater spirit of unity, by emphasizing spiritual priorities, and by opening people’s hearts to the Spirit’s guidance.” —Anonymous

Advent – Day 6

“For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (2 Chronicles 16:9a).

Lord, prepare our hearts to be fully committed to You!  May we be completely focused upon You so that You can strengthen us as we wait for the coming of the Christ Child. (See also:  1 Kings 8:61)
