God’s Provision

Connect Image Dec 2014“Give us today our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11).

Read the stories of George Mueller of Bristol, and you will find the same story occurring over and over again. Mueller took in and raised thousands of orphans, even though he didn’t have the means to feed them. He determined simply to pray and watch God supply without telling anyone of his needs. There are verified accounts of Mueller setting the breakfast table though there was not a crust of bread in the house. Nevertheless, he had prayed, and he had the assurance in his spirit that God had heard his prayer. So he would emerge from his prayer time and would say, “Let’s thank the Lord for His provision.”

At the close of the prayer, someone would bring in food and the children would receive everything needful for the day.

Mueller built buildings, fed thousands, and blessed many other faith endeavors based on the principle that God would supply in direct answer to prayer. He would pray into existence what God wanted done. He would perceive what needed to be done, pray until the assurance was granted, and then would confess that it was done until the food landed on the table.

Giver of all Good Things, my faith is lacking!  As I hear about people like George Mueller, I think that I could never have enough to believe in Your divine provision as he did.  Yet, I know that You are just waiting for me to ask so that You can show me how faithful You are!  Help me to line up my prayers with what is on Your heart to answer.

Prayer Points

Praise God for the creativity and imagination with which he has gifted you. Thank him for giving you the desire to live for Christ. Confess those times when you have allowed your thoughts and imagination to stray into sin. Commit yourself to setting your mind on all the fullness of God. Ask God to expand your thoughts of him as you consider the width and depth and breadth of his glory.

Thank God for the beauty of his creation throughout the world. Ask that natural beauty will be protected from the harm which sin inflicts on the creation. Pray that people around the world will see and say, “What an awesome God!”

Advent – Day 5

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 15:5-6).

Lord, prepare our hearts to have a spirit of unity with other believers.  Help us to have a spirit of unity so that we might glorify You and share everything we have with others.  We want to glorify You, Father, in our family and in the Body as we wait for the coming of the Christ Child.
