Then his people recalled the days of old, the days of Moses and his people—where is he who brought them through the sea, with the shepherd of his flock? Where is he who set his Holy Spirit among them… Isaiah 63:11
As the seriousness of their situation apart from God’s protection and favor began to sink in, the people of Judah remembered the stories told them of how God blessed them through a leader like Moses. We now shift our focus to Judah’s increasing awareness of what they had lost through their rebellion, contrasting it with the time of blessing through Moses. Their spiritual history took on great significance as they began to ask God to do some of the same things in their day as He had done in the days of Moses.
Spiritual memory is important, not just for an awareness of the past, but as an indicator of the future. Do you look at stories of past revivals from scripture and Christian history simply as interesting history? Or are you allowing the Spirit of God to create within you a longing for God to do in our day what He has done in days gone by?
Lord, You have given us a great inheritance. History is filled with stories about how You blessed Your people with Your presence in amazing ways. Would You use those stories to stir my own heart for revival? Do it again Lord, in our day!

Praise the Son of God, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Thank God for the depth of the riches of that wisdom and knowledge (Rom. 11:33). Confess those areas of your work or personal life for which you have forgotten to ask his wisdom and guidance. Commit yourself to calling out for insight and crying aloud for understanding, to looking for it as for silver and searching for it as for hidden treasure (Prov. 2:3). Ask God to let his discretion protect you and his understanding guard you.
Intercede for the parents you know who are struggling with raising their children, that God will open their hearts to his wisdom.
