My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you (Psalm 63:5).
We’ve got to recover a hunger for God. Otherwise there will be no genuine gladness and joy when we come before him in prayer. Honoring him with praise will just be a mechanical exercise, a life-less spiritual discipline. The key to a restored appetite for God is to deliberately cut back on everything else we’ve been feeding ourselves. The biblical word for this self-imposed restraint is fasting, a practice that can be applied not only to food but also to anything that keeps us from God-hunger.

Father, I am so busy feeding myself with things of this world and I am tired of never feeling satisfied. I know that only in You will I find that deep kind of peace. Show me how to allow my soul to be satisfied only with the richest of foods from Your Holy Spirit! Then with singing lips my mouth will praise You!
Praise God for his overruling love (2 Cor. 5:14). Give thanks that God’s love compels you to do things which please him. Confess those times when you have chosen not to listen to God’s words and direction. Commit yourself to worshiping God, for his power over those things that destroy love. Ask God to reveal his overruling love in your daily life.
Pray that Satan’s opposition will be bound so that men and women of all nations will see God’s powerful love.
