Glorify His Name

Jesus said, “‘Father, glorify your name!’  Then a voice came from heaven, ‘I have glorified it, and will glorify it again’” (John 12:28).

As you go through this day, ask God to reveal to you what it means to pray, “Father, glorify Your name.” Ask Him to give you concrete ways that you can live out your prayer. In essence you will be asking God to be so very present in and through you that every action will be impacted by His presence. How would God’s name be glorified in your water-cooler conversation? How would God be glorified as you are visiting with your neighbor? How would God’s name be glorified at your workplace or your school? Ask Him to reveal that, and pray the first line of the Lord’s prayer at each place.

Father, I want to glorify Your name through my life.  Show me how to be the hands and feet of Your Son at home, work, school, in my neighborhood and within all of my relationships.  May those lost in darkness see Your glory as I represent You because You are present within my words, thoughts and actions each day of my life.

Prayer Points

Praise God, the Most Holy, worthy of all honor. Give thanks for gatherings where you can join in praise (Ps. 22:22, 25). Confess your reluctance to share such joys outside of Christian circles. Commit yourself to offering glimpses of God’s grace to those outside the fellowship. Ask God to show you someone who craves the balm of Gilead (Jer. 46:11).

Ask God to give your congregation joy in being Jesus’ hands and feet. Pray for specific ways your church can help others meet their needs for food, income, housing, and transportation.
