“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105).
If you are not seeing your life transformed on a regular basis through studying God’s Word, then you probably need to make a change. I urge you to try adding personal assessment. God knows exactly what is going to happen in my life every day. Nothing surprises Him. Everything surprises me. Since He knows all this, He also knows what part of His Word to inject into my life each day. His truth and my willingness and availability come together for Him to transform me to the image of His Son. I demonstrate my relentless pursuit of passion for Him by regularly evaluating myself against the truth of Scripture.
Father, help me to run from anything that is mechanical or superficial concerning the study of Your Word. You are able to take my heart to great spiritual depths as the truth of Your Word transforms me. May I never take a casual approach to studying Your Word, and may I never rest from what I already know and understand. Please stretch me to examine the scriptures every day as You purpose to build in me a passion for You.

Praise God as your mighty, protective, and loving Father. Thank him for adopting you as his own son or daughter and for making you heir to all the promises given in Scripture (Gal. 3:26-29). Confess those times you have forgotten who you are—a child of the Most High God. Commit yourself to remembering each day that you have been born into God’s family and have “clothed yourself with Christ” (3:27). Ask God to help you understand and appreciate your complete inheritance in Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:18).
Pray that the fathers you know will be able to reflect the Father’s love, compassion, and wisdom to their children, so that the entire family will grow to trust and love God.
