“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with all your heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 15:5-6).
Unity is one of the most difficult things to maintain in the life of a church and between individual believers. As individuals we have differing opinions on everything. And it is common for people to think that anyone who does not see things exactly as they do is wrong.
Satan uses this to his advantage in churches. He drives little wedges between people. He uses style of music, subtleties in theology, decorating tastes, how we discipline our children … you name it, he uses it to bring disunity!
The church at Rome was experiencing disunity, which prompted Paul to pray for them. Take the passage above and pray it for your own church today:
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give my church a spirit of unity among the believers as we follow Christ Jesus, so that with all of our hearts and mouths we will glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Read Ps. 148:7-14 and “let yourself go” as you praise God with all of creation. Thank God for his wonderful works, which join in praise to the Creator. Confess any times you have failed to value the creation or have misused it in any way. Commit yourself to maintaining an attitude of praise to God throughout this day. Ask that God’s name will be praised throughout all the earth.
If you are married, intercede for your spouse. Pray for his or her walk with the Lord. Pray for marriages among your friends, asking that they will be grounded in Christ’s love.
