Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here” (2 Corinthians 5:17)!
The system of the world is contrary to the principles and character of God. Because the believer lives within that system, Satan continuously tries to seduce him with the lusts of the world system.
The fleshly part of man has been affected by the Fall. The “old man” lives by this principle. It is the principle of living by one’s outward desires and drives rather than by inward obedience to God. The Christian must yield himself to God in prayer, choosing not to be conformed to this world but to crucify the flesh and its lusts. One must make these daily choices in the secret chamber of prayer. When one wholly yields himself to God, he will then be able to walk and live under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit, I yield myself to Your power and authority as I cast off the seductive temptations of the enemy of my soul! I choose to crucify my flesh in order to choose the secret chamber of prayer. I exchange the lies of the devil for the truth of Your Living Word. I claim the power of Your promises over the twisted distortions of the evil one. Help me to walk in step with You as I put on the character of Christ and live out the commands of the Father all the days of my life!
Praise God for the humility which Christ displayed in coming to earth and going to the cross for you (Phil. 2:8). Thank Jesus for modeling true humility as he washed his disciples’ feet (Jn. 13:5). Confess the pride which keeps you from wholeheartedly submitting to Jesus’ lordship. Commit yourself to drawing near to your Lord at the foot of the cross. Ask him to give you a servant’s heart.
Ask God to search your heart concerning unsaved persons you know. Pray that any attitude of superiority will be rooted out of your life so that you can humbly and genuinely present the claims of Christ.
“Any church without a well-organized and systematic prayer program is simply operating a religious treadmill.” —John Billheimer
