Prayer as Communion

Isaiah 59:2 says, “But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear.”

When we come into the presence of God, we will always behold one outstanding characteristic of His nature: His holiness. There is not a blemish in God; purity and impurity do not mix. If we are to have fellowship with a holy and pure God, then we must be clean before Him. David asks in Psalm 24:3–4, “Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, and has not sworn deceitfully.” Only the pure in heart will be able to enter into God’s presence.

We must learn that prayer is communion with the Father. And if we are to commune with Him, we must have clean hands and a pure heart. God can only be seen through the eyes of a pure heart.

Holy Father, thank You for Your precious grace that continues to wash me clean day by day.  I desire to be fully alive in Your Presence with clean hands and a pure heart.   Please keep my feet moving towards holiness as I walk this journey of life.  Teach me how to make every moment with You a precious time of prayerful communion.

Prayer Points

Praise God, the giver of wisdom and power (Dan. 2:20). Give thanks for opportunities to worship with others, to learn from God’s wisdom, and to be touched by his presence. Confess attempts to survive through mere human wisdom and power. Commit yourself to carefully applying what God teaches you today. Ask God to empower you to live accordingly.

Pray for unsaved persons you know by name. Ask God to work through the power of his Holy Spirit to convict them of sin and lead them into his truth (Jn. 16:7-11). Ask God to use you to love them.
