Keeping the Proper Perspective

October picture“For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the first born from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy” (Col. 1:16-18).

Spiritually dry times can often produce an inward focus. It’s true that we need to spend time letting God search our hearts for sin issues that may be the cause of the distance we feel from God. But we must not get caught up in the pit of “it’s all about me”—what am I doing wrong, how can I get out of this funk, etc. The enemy will use anything he can to redirect our time, energy and worship.

Start praising Him, focusing on Him, telling Him how much you love Him. If you don’t get anywhere else in prayer that day, at least you’ve kept the proper perspective. Remember, it’s all about Him!

Lord, You are my prayer, my hope, and my answer.  All I need is You! Nothing else matters but You.  Help me keep things in perspective today.

Prayer Points

Praise God for being the dwelling place for his saints in all generations (Ps. 90:1). Thank him that before the mountains were born or he had brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting he is God (90:2). Confess your rebellion against God’s greatness. Commit yourself to numbering your days rightly, so that you may gain a heart of wisdom

(90:12). Ask the Lord to have his favor rest upon you and to establish the work of your hands (90:17).

Pray that the Lord will supply wisdom and perseverance to your church’s missionaries (name them) and that they will be blessed with encouraging results in their work.
