“I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing” (1 Timothy 2:8).
God is calling men to step up to the plate and do their part in prayer. The Lord today is calling ALL of the Church to prayer….both men and women, young and old. Look just at the spiritual warfare aspect of prayer. John Piper writes, “Until we know that life is war, we won’t know what prayer is for.” Prayer involves battle against spiritual forces in the heavenlies. Men —how do you feel about sending your mother or wife out to do battle while you sit at home? Isn’t that what we’ve been doing when we have looked at prayer as women’s work? It’s time to take the place of the warrior, alongside the women, as we do battle together in the Lord’s strength and victory as a people of prayer.

Father, You are calling Your people to lift up holy hands in prayer to do battle against the spiritual forces that are opposing Your kingdom. Raise up men, women and children to be prayer warriors in these last days. Give all men a deep desire to be the spiritual heads in their homes so that families will be prepared to be strong and determined to live in holiness.
Praise God as Jehovah-shammah, “the Lord who is there.” Thank God for his immediate and all-encompassing presence in your life (Psalm 139). Confess the times this past week when you have doubted the Lord’s presence or acted as though God were not surrounding you with his love and Spirit. Commit yourself to “practicing the presence of God” at all times. Ask him to give you signs of his presence every day this week.
Intercede for unborn children, that God’s hand will be on them even in the womb, protecting and encompassing them with his love.
