And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way; wicked fools will not go about on it. No lion will be there, nor will any ferocious beast get up on it; they will not be found there. Isaiah 35:8-9
The way of revival is the way of holiness. It is always the encroachment of sin in the lives of believers that creates the absence of the power and perceived presence of God. Turning from sin (repentance) and a recommitment to following the ways of God will always mean a revival of holiness among the Lord’s people.
It is interesting that the earliest Christians were known as followers of The Way. Jesus said that He is the Way….the truth and the life. The Way of Jesus is the same Way of Holiness that Isaiah wrote about.
Jesus also described the Way as “narrow.” Isaiah shows that it is not a way for those who will not follow the Lord. The prohibition against lions and beasts on this way, may even have a spiritual warfare aspect, since the Bible describes Satan as a roaring lion. Could it be that the Way of Holiness is a place of spiritual protection as we follow the ways of the Lord?
Lord, You have called me to follow You and I recommit myself this day to staying on the Way. Help me to walk in the holiness that comes only from You. Father, may holiness become a topic and lifestyle that stirs the hearts of every believer. Forgive us for the worldliness that has so often marked Your Church. Through the grace of God we choose to walk now on that highway of Your making,…the Way of Holiness.

Give highest praise to God as the all-sufficient one, “El-Shaddai.” Thank God for being the strength of your heart and your inheritance forever (Ps. 73:26). Confess to him your reliance on material wealth or possessions to make you feel secure and satisfied. Commit yourself to saying, “Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you” (73:25). Ask God to help you grasp how completely his love and presence surround you in this day.
Ask God to reveal to you one person whom you should invite to worship this week or at least invite over for a meal or a cup of coffee.
“It appears that God has so ordered life and the world that our praying is a vital part of his redemptive plan for individuals and the entire universe.”
